St petersburg Pattern- leaf earrings
I have made a written tutorial for this beading pattern.
Below is the materials list. Check out my Amazon store for links to all of my recommended beading supplies.
Materials
- 2g 8/0 Seed beads (A)
- 2g 11/0 Seed beads (B)
- 34 Drop beads, 3.4mm (C)
- 2 Bicones, 4mm (D)
- 2 Earring hooks
- 2 jump rings
- 3 yards of beading thread
- 2 size 10 beading needles
- Thread burner or sharp scissors
- Bead mat
Instructions
Step 1: Thread your needle with 1.5 yards of beading thread.
Attach a stop bead to the middle of the thread.
Note: Keep your thread tension tight throughout this project.
Step 2: String 6A.
Step 3: Go through the third and fourth A's strung from the tail end.
This will cause the last 2A strung to sit next to those beads forming a second column.
Step 4: String 1B. Go back through the top 3A in the first column (towards the tail).
Step 5: String 1C. Go through the 2A in the second column.
Step 6: String 4A and let them slide down the thread towards the beadwork.
Step 7: Go through the first 2A just strung from the tail end. Pull the beads snug against the beadwork.
The last 2A will form a third column.
Step 8: String 1B and go back through the top 3A in the second column.
Step 9: String 1C.
Go through the 2A in the third column.
Step 10: Repeat Steps 6-9 six more times.
Note: You should now have a total of 8C in your beadwork.
Step 11: Remove the stop bead.
Attach another needle to the second half of the thread.
String 1C and go through the first column of 4A.
Step 12: String 2A.
Go back through the top 2A and the 1B in the first column.
The 2A just added will form a new column.
Step 13: Go back down through the top 3A in the first column.
Step 14: String 1C and go through the 2A in the column just added.
Step 15: String 4A.
Go back through the first 2A just strung. Pull the beads snug against the beadwork.
Step 16: String 1B. Go back down through the top 3A in the column your thread is exiting.
Step 17: String 1C. Go through the 2A in the next column.
Step 18: Repeat Steps 15-17 six more times.
Note: You should have 8C on both sides of the beadwork and 1C in the center.
Step 19: Pass through the final 1B in the previous column.
Step 20: String 2B and 1A on both needles.
Step 21: String 1D on the right-hand needle.
Step 22: Cross the left-hand needle from left to right through the 1D just strung.
Step 23: On one needle, string 5B and an earring hook.
Note: I have attached my earring hook to a jump ring.
Step 24: Using the same needle, go back through the last 1B strung.
Step 25: Continue using the first needle to string 4B.
Go through the 1D from the side opposite where you started in Step 23.
Reinforce the earring hook using the second needle.
Both needles should be exiting on either side of the 1D.
Step 26: Now you will only be using one needle.
String 22B.
Go through the 1B in the center of the beadwork at the bottom.
Step 27: Go back through the closest 4B of the 22B just added.
Step 28: String 3B. Go through the 1B closest to the center 1B on one side of the beadwork.
Step 29: Go back through the 3B just added.
Then, pass through the 1B above where you started in Step 27.
Step 30: Repeat Steps 28 and 29 on the opposite side of the beadwork.
Then, go through 5 more B's.
Step 31: String 5B.
Skip 1B along one side of the beadwork and pass through the following one.
Step 32: Go back through the 5B just added.
Then, pass through 1B above where you started in Step 30.
Step 33: Repeat Steps 31 and 32 on the opposite side of the beadwork.
Go through 4 more B's.
Step 34: String 6B.
Skip 1B along one side of the beadwork and pass through the following one.
Step 35: Go back through the 6A just strung.
Pass through 1B above where you started in Step 33.
Step 36: Repeat Step 35 on the opposite side of the beadwork.
Weave both threads into the beadwork and tie several half-hitch knots. Remove the excess.
Step 37: Repeat all the steps to complete the second earring.
Your earrings are now complete!
