Mastering Beadwork: A Comprehensive Guide to Off-loom Techniques by Carol Huber Cypher, even though published a few years ago, is one of the most comprehensive beading books I’ve ever read. It covers fifteen off-loom beadweaving (stitching) techniques, sixty-three projects and also gives information beneficial to beginners such as tips and a glossary of terms used throughout the book.

The basic stitches shown include peyote, netting and my personal favourites, right angle weave and herringbone. Some other stitches that you don’t see everyday are also included, e.g. African helix stitch. For those of you who can crochet, bead crochet is covered at the end of the book.
Carol Huber Cypher not only takes you through how to make necklaces, bracelets and earrings but also beaded beads, beaded toggles and even a card case. Clear directions and full-colour illustrations allow even beginners to make these projects their own.
I also love the spiral binding of the book. It is perfect for use while you are working because the pages lie flat.
Mastering Beadwork is a great addition to any beader’s library. Usually sold at US$24.95, it can be bought at The Book Depository at a discounted price and shipping is FREE! Click here to purchase.
I hope you enjoy this book as much as I do if you decide to buy it. It is worth it if you love bead stitching or are interested in learning.
