Materials for DIY Jewelry Gift Box
Here are the supplies you’ll need:
- 8.5″ x 11″ Card stock
- CD or other round object
- Pencil
- Eraser
- Scissors
- Ruler
- Fold and Score Tool (optional)
- Ribbon
Instructions for the Homemade Gift Box
Step 1: Using the pencil, draw a circle around the CD in one corner of the card stock.
Step 2: Mark the center of the circle.
Divide the circle into quarters with two perpendicular lines intersecting in the middle of the circle.
Step 3: Position the CD so it touches two lines on either side of one quadrant of the circle. Draw an arc on the inside of the circle.
(Yep, that’s the reflection of my hand in the CD. Hi!)
Step 4: Repeat Step 3 three more times to draw arcs in the other quadrants.
Step 5: Line up the CD with the arc in the top right quadrant.
Draw a circle around the CD.
Step 6: Repeat Steps 2-4 to divide the second circle into quarters and then draw the arcs.
Step 7: Cut around the outer edge of the two circles using the scissors. Make sure to keep the circles joined.
Step 8: Score the arcs of both circles using the Score and Fold tool. I used the edge of my ruler. Ensure you don’t cut all the way through the card stock during this step.
Fold each side of the gift box up along the scored lines.
Use the eraser to remove the pencil lines.
Fold one side of the box over the other. Now you have a DIY jewelry gift box with a lid in hardly any time at all.
Place your gift inside the box and secure it with a pretty piece of ribbon. These beaded Christmas earrings might be the perfect present to put inside the box.
Using a CD produces a small gift box. If you want a larger box, simply use a round object a bit larger than the CD. But, be aware a bigger box might need more support so use a heavy card stock.
You can use this DIY gift box tutorial to personalize jewelry boxes even if you do have some on hand. The process is quick and easy. Use different colors or even patterned card stock for a custom result.
I loved your box pattern. I believe presentation is everything and makes gifts even more fun to open. Thank you!!
Thank you! You’re right. Presentation is important.
